What Is The Laundry Lady?
The Laundry Lady is a wash, dry, fold and ironing service with pickup and delivery. We collect your laundry from your door, take care of it, and bring it back clean, fresh and neatly folded.
No need to ring anyone. Customers book online, pick a convenient collection time, and leave the rest to us.
We work with busy households, small businesses, Airbnb hosts, beauty salons, medical clinics and more. Basically, anyone who has laundry and not enough time to deal with it.
Our contractors, known as Laundry Partners, work from their own homes using their own equipment. They choose their own hours, manage their own schedules, and keep 80% of every job they complete.
It is a simple idea. And it works.
The Story Behind the Business
Susan Toft founded The Laundry Lady in 2012 on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia.
She was a new mum with a full-time corporate job, staring at a pile of unfolded clothes and thinking: someone should offer this as a service. So she decided to be that someone.
She started completely on her own. Pickups in her van, her toddler in the backseat.
Her goal was simple: to build a business that would allow her to never miss her sons’ sports days.
What started as a side hustle has grown into something far bigger than she imagined. Thirteen years later, The Laundry Lady operates across three countries with roughly 490 independent contractors.
Susan has spoken about the journey on the Side Hustle Show, one of the world’s most listened-to entrepreneurship podcasts. She also appeared on Shark Tank Australia, where she secured one of the largest deals of the season.
Our Services
We offer a full wash, dry, fold and ironing service. Pickup and delivery are included. You book online. We come to you, collect your laundry, and return it clean. Simple.
We use our own specially formulated laundry liquids, designed to be gentle on fabrics and kind to sensitive skin. If you have a preferred product you would like us to use, just let us know at the time of booking and your Laundry Partner will accommodate you.
We also cater to customers with specific needs. In Australia, we are a registered NDIS provider, and we serve aged care facilities, hospitals, and community organisations alongside everyday residential customers.
What the Numbers Say
The growth speaks for itself.
Year-on-year weekly booking numbers increased 58% in the 2025 financial year. Revenue climbed from $2.7 million in 2023 to $8.6 million by early 2026, quadrupling the business in roughly three years.
In 2025, The Laundry Lady raised $1 million in seed funding to support international expansion into Canada and the UK. The round was backed by Brisbane Angels, AngelLoop and the Queensland Government’s Female Founders Co-Investment Fund, among others.
Awards and Recognition
The Laundry Lady has earned serious recognition in Australia’s business community.
At the 2024 SmartCompany Smart50 Awards, the business ranked 19th overall and took home both the Marketing Excellence and People Power awards. In 2025, the business ranked 22nd on the Smart50 list again.
Susan personally took out Founder of the Year at the 2024 Women in Digital Awards. The Laundry Lady was also named a finalist in the Startup Daily Best in Tech 2025 Awards in the Best Regional Startup category.
They reflect a business that has built something real, with real people behind it.
Growing Across Three Countries
Australia came first. Then New Zealand. Canada launched at the start of 2026 with Laundry Partners across Ontario and British Columbia.
The UK is next.
The Laundry Lady has confirmed it is targeting $12 million in annual recurring revenue for the 2026 financial year, with growth coming from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the UK.
